Created in 2002, the Northeastern Ontario Stroke Network Steering Committee functions as the decision making body for the Ontario Stroke System in Northeastern Ontario. This committee meets four times per year, generally by videoconference with one in-person meeting per year. This committee is also responsible for the development of a comprehensive strategic plan that ensures the implemention of stroke best practice guidelines across the entire care continuum, including: health promotion/primary prevention, pre-hospital care, emergency care, acute care, rehabilitation, community and long term care, community re-engagement, and secondary prevention.
